Volunteer Opportunities

Communication

Proofreader – Newsletter Review an html draft of the monthly PMI newsletters. The draft will be provided by email from the VP of Communications. Check the content for relevance, clarity, timeliness, grammar, and spelling. Provide suggestions and feedback to the VP of Communication. Must be completed between the third Monday and Third Wednesday of each month. 12 hrs total (1/month) 2
Proofreader – Ad Hoc Bulletins & Communiqués Review an html draft of brief chapter bulletins or communiqués which are published on an as needed basis. The draft will be provided by email from the VP of Communications. Check the content for relevance, clarity, timeliness, grammar, and spelling. Provide suggestions and feedback to the VP of Communication. Must be completed within 2 business days of receipt of the email. ½ hr per occurrence – up to 3 per month 2
Contributor Submit a 500 – 1000 word article summarizing a project that has been completed locally – describe how the project deliverable is benefitting the owner, sponsor, or local community. Describe any obstacles that were overcome during the project, or that resulted in a significant diversion from the original planned outcome. All sources and content must be appropriately documented and cited. (All articles are subject to approval by the VP of Communications and/or the Board of Directors and approved articles may be published on the chapter website or in the monthly newsletter,) 4 hours 2
Researcher Locate an article that is likely to be of interest to the Chattanooga PMI membership. Contact the source and obtain approval to re-print the article on the Chattanooga chapter website or in the monthly newsletter. Provide the article, along with documentation granting the approval to reprint to the VP of Communications. (All articles are subject to approval by the VP of Communications and/or the Board of Directors and approved articles may be published on the chapter website or in the monthly newsletter,) 3 hours 2


Programs

Event Coordinator Contact local restaurants and hotels to obtain availability and pricing for upcoming chapter events; manage arrangements and final details with selected venue (1 ½ hr per wk) for 2 wks 5B
Event Host Check in attendees at the event, develop name tags and certificates for attendees (if required) 1hr/month for chapter meetings or event 5B
E-Marketing Data Update 3 -4 volunteers needed to assist with updating existing contact list. Phone contact required. Caller can complete portion of call list at time convenient for them but must be completed within 2wks of assignment. 1hr/wk for 2 wk 5B
Director of Programs Manage web based event management tool. Includes develop, schedule, and distribute email notifications for all chapter events and meetings; coordinate activities with membership, communications and other board members. 2hr/month 5B (Hours also applicable towards PMP application/certification)


Membership

PM for Chapter Social Works with VP Membership to create project plan for Chapter Social. Gathers materials and makes arrangements for location, food, activities, invitations, door prizes & theme. May attend Board of Directors meetings as necessary to gain approval and present project plan prior to and post event. 2hr/month (July-October) 5B (Hours also applicable towards PMP application/certification)
PM for New Member Orientation Works with VP Membership to create project plan for New Member Orientation. Gathers materials list and makes arrangements for location, food, program & speakers, invitations, door prizes & handouts. May attend Board of Directors meetings as necessary to gain approval and present project plan prior to and post event. (1 ½ hr per wk) for 2 wks 5B (Hours also applicable towards PMP application/certification)
